Chinese payment platform Wichat Pay has also entered Nepal. NMB Bank has introduced China’s popular digital payment service WiChat Pay in Nepal for the first time.
Under this, Chinese tourists visiting Nepal can pay through ‘NMB Bank WeChat Pay QR’. Along with this, Nepali traders can receive payments in Nepali currency, the bank said.
“This service is very useful for Nepali merchants,” said Nirvik Sapkota, the bank’s Alternative Delivery Channels Sales Manager.
Stating that this facility will provide an excellent opportunity to Chinese tourists if they want to buy or receive any service while visiting Nepal, he expressed the belief that cross-border transactions between the two countries will be simplified.
“NMB v Chat Pay QR will not only bring convenient QR code payment solutions for Chinese tourists,” he said, “it will also help local Nepali merchants to conduct cross-border business.”
