NC General Secretary Thapa objects to exclusion of statements in Lalita Niwas Case

JHAPA: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has raised significant objections to the decision made by the ruling coalition regarding the omission of certain senior leaders’ statements in connection with the Lalita Niwas Land Grab case.

Speaking at an event held in Jhapa, Thapa vehemently expressed his disagreement with the ruling coalition’s stance, revealing that he had learned about discussions within the coalition party meeting concerning the omission of statements from prominent coalition figures suspected of involvement in the Lalita Niwas Land Grab case.

Following a directive from the Supreme Court (SC) to investigate the policy decisions made by the Council of Ministers, efforts were underway to procure statements from former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai pertaining to the Lalita Niwas residence land controversy.

“Information has reached us that a gathering of alliance leaders reached at consensus to exclude the statements of select leaders who were initially poised to provide statements regarding the Lalita Niwas land case,” asserted Thapa during his speech.

He further emphasized the necessity for transparency by advocating for live broadcasts of alliance meetings. Thapa conveyed, “The demand for transparency extends not solely to the NC central committee meeting, but equally to the sessions of the alliance. It is essential that the public is well-informed about the proceedings and outcomes. Live broadcasts are essential because often, what transpires during the meetings contrasts starkly with the narrative that emerges afterward.”
