Self-repairable Nokia G22 smartphone released, this is the feature

HMD Global has released a unique smartphone of Nokia brand through the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Spain, which can be repaired by mobile users themselves. This phone is marketed with the name Nokia G22 which is made from 100% recycled plastic back cover. The display, charging port, battery and panel of this phone can be repaired at home and for this the company is also supporting iFixit kit.

Generally, when a phone malfunctions, people take it to a service center or abandon it and buy a new phone. But Nokia G22 is a mobile that can support you for a long time. It is designed so that users of the phone can open it up and repair it themselves. HMD Global has partnered with iFixit for this phone.

The Nokia G22 is a standard smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen and a 50-megapixel main camera, developed by the Finnish manufacturer.

But the outer shell and inner part of this phone make it special. The handset includes a recyclable plastic back that can be easily removed to swap damaged components. With tools and repair guides from hardware repair advocacy firm iFixit, users can remove and replace the phone’s back cover, battery, screen and charging port.

Adam Ferguson, head of product marketing at HMD Global, said the process costs an average of 30% less than replacing an old phone with a new one.

Recently, there is a demand to give the right to phone repair to the consumers all over the world. Right to repair refers to a movement among consumer rights campaigners to make it easier for consumers to repair their gadgets.

But the Nokia G22 has one drawback—it only meets the IP52 benchmark for resistance against harmful substances, meaning it won’t be protected from water damage.

The company claims that any mobile user can change the battery in just 5 minutes by opening its back panel. Likewise, the phone’s display can be changed within 20 minutes. Along with this phone, the company is also going to provide a mobile phone repair tool and repair user manual.

The Nokia G22 features a 20:9 aspect ratio supporting a 6.52-inch HD Plus display with a resolution of 720 x 1200 pixels. The waterdrop notch styled screen of this phone works at 90 Hz refresh rate and supports 500 nits brightness. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

This phone supports triple rear camera for photography. The rear panel offers a 50-megapixel primary sensor with LED flash with f/1.8 aperture, which works in conjunction with a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Also, this phone has an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calling.

Nokia G22 is a 4G phone that supports dual SIM. For power backup, this phone has a 5,050mAh battery with 20W fast charging technology. Also, for security, this smartphone supports a side mounted fingerprint sensor.

Nokia G2 is offered in two memory variants. The base variant of the phone has 64GB of internal storage with 4GB of RAM and the larger variant supports 128GB of storage with 4GB of RAM. The price of this phone starts from 179 euros. This Nokia phone has been launched in Meteor Gray and Lagoon Blue colors.
