The government will form an inquiry committee to study the Ncell sale case

Kathmandu. The government is going to set up a study and investigation committee to study and investigate the Ncell sale case.

Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma said this while speaking after the meeting of the top leaders of the alliance held in Baluwatar on Tuesday. She said that the government of Nepal has drawn serious attention to the news published regarding the sale of shares of telecommunications service provider Ncell and the decision to form a necessary study and investigation committee has been taken from the meeting of the Council of Ministers.

She said that the number of members of the committee has not been decided yet. She said that the sale was made with unnatural provisions and prices without taking the approval of the regulatory body Nepal Telecommunication Authority and without even informing the regulator.

Minister Sharma said that the government will carry out a detailed study and investigation on the prevailing legal provisions and compliance with international methods and procedures regarding the sale and purchase of shares of Ncell and the impact and mitigation of such activities on Nepal’s telecommunication sector and foreign investment and on the revenue of the Government of Nepal.
