Former Speaker Dhungana’s body brought to Sano Gaucharn for tributes
Kathmandu, November 18 — The mortal remains of former Speaker Damannath Dhungana have been brought to Sano Gaucharn in Gyaneshwar for public homage. Dhungana, who had been receiving treatment for health issues related to his kidneys, passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday afternoon at the Frontline Hospital in Baneshwor.
Following his death, his body was kept at the morgue of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. Political leaders from various parties, including Communist Party of Nepal (UML) Chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and many other prominent figures from different sectors of society, have paid tribute to Dhungana.
Currently, there is a large crowd of people at Sano Gaucharn to pay their respects. After the tributes, his cremation will take place at Pashupati Arya Ghat. The government of Nepal has decided to give former Speaker Dhungana a state funeral with full honors.
